My son and daughter-in-law are sleeping with a 15 year old girl, whom my d-i-l had to talk my son into letting her stay with them. They are having bad marital problems and the d-i-l is very violent. They have two children, whom I am worried about the most. My son is trying to get his wife to sign over custody to me, she has agreed but it cost more than we can afford. My son's wife has threatened to kill him and has tried a couple of times. I worry that because of the 15 year old and his wife violent tendencies, they will get the children taken away and I will not be able to see them. I have been the major caregiver of the kids since they have been born. One is 7 and the other is 1. I have invested a lot of time and energy into the children and I homeschool the 7 year old. He is doing outstanding work, but all the fighting its taking its toll on him. I just want to do everything I can do to protect him and his sister. What should I do?

are they living in your home? then that 15 year old has no business being there and you could be held liable if anything happens to her-she is a minor-and they are sleeping with her?
you need to get his wife out of your house if she is living with you.
it is very possible if dcfs gets wiff of that type of living condition, they will come in, investigate and possibly remove the children from that environment. this is a very serious problem. you could try talking with a family law attorney and see what options you might have as a grandparent and i am sure that there are programs in your state that will represent you at little or no cost
good luck

It's a no brain-er, get custody of the children, not having the money is a cop out. Show your proof of taking care of them and how long and take it to court and rescue them. You can make the difference you are in control once you truly decide and believe you can do it, but it is up to you so do it or leave them be.
