L X W X DEPTH ( expressed as decimal)
---------------------------------------------------
27
= cubic yards( how it is sold ) - round up
depth - 4" = .33, 6" = .5
this & they assume you have a perfect box, if you have 2" of space below your form board you will be short. if it is 8 or 9 cy, round up to a full truck 10 cy. They will hammmer you w/delivery fees to carry 2 loads that 1 truck should have brought ( deisel, driver, hours etc...)

L x w x d in FT / 27 equal cubic yards
For instance: a 10' by 10' porch with no footers (to keep the math simple) 4" thick.
10 x 10 x .333 = 33.33
33.33/27 = 1.23 CY

Concrete is sold by the cubic yard. 27 cubic feet to the cubic yard. Measure the length times width times depth of your pour and divide by 27.
