Has anybody purchased a newer car/suv and paid it off them selves and not have there parants buy it for them.

Yes. Many of them. Car payments suck, but sucky happens. I did regular car payments on one vehicle. Since then I have learned, and I save up assets, and buy decent used cars by cash. Gives me more negotiating power at the car dealer, and I don't have to work a couple extra years to pay off the interest.

Sounds like you just need to pay this car off on time (or earlier), and keep your credit rating happy. Money management happens. (and all of us old folks wish we had learned it sooner--)
