Why are you messing around with a kidney stone. Where was this 3 mm kidney stone? If it is floating around in your kidney or in your bladder and not causing a problem its one thing, but if the darned stone is stuck in your ureter, you need to get to a urologist and get the darned thing out of there. You are going to have hydronephrosis and be in a bigger mess. Why arent you going to the doctor?

Although it's terribly painful, if you've seen a doctor, they are aware of the situation and are waiting for you to pass it?? I am 42 and have lived with kidney stones since I was 16. My son had his first at 16 and me being the pro I am, I knew right away what it was, although the hospital sent him home with a "virus". The pain you are feeling is that tiny little thing moving through your kidney., a grain of sand tearing through the solid meat. When the stone does move out from the kidney you are going to experience excrutiating pain. I don't say this to scare you, but to prepare you. Trust me, you are going to know when it's on it's way out to that strainer. Men do have worse pain than women. Of course that could be because men can't take as much pain as women, remember, we do go through child birth :-) You will probably be in the bathroom vomiting violently from the pain and some men have been known to pass out. It's nice to have the pain meds if you need them, but by this time, you will probably throw them up anyway.
Drink tons of water and get that sucker out of there. Doctors may say Cranberry juice, but I believe that only floods your system with sugar. I have had the Lithotripsy done several times. My stones aren't such that they can be broken up anymore, but I have heard success stories. If it doesn't pass soon and you want to know more about it, speak to your urologist about the procedure. I can't explain the diarrhea, unless they gave you an antibiotic because there was bacteria present in your urine, that would do it. If you are able to catch that pesky little thing, DO get it to a lab so you know what you should be avoiding. Mine are calcium, so cheese and milk are my big enemies, but my body creates them from calcium taken from other sources in my body, so the only thing my diet allows me to control is how fast they grow. I'm doomed for the rest of my life to suffer with them. When you see this "grain of sand", you will be in shock that this is what has been causing you all this grief. my biggest has been 5mm (OUCH!)
I wish you the quickest relief and hope it's not as bad as it could be, but wanted you to be prepared because doctors don't usually tell it the way it is.
Let me know how you make out.

Look into getting lithotripsy done , it is a procedure to blast that sucker into smaller less painful passable pieces using sound waves.

If you're having "hints" of the pain, then yes, you should be concerned.

Check in with your GP. Also, drink a couple of quarts (or liters) of water (plain water). daily
