Traditionally, pageants were outwardly shallow beauty contests. When society began to reject this ideal, they began to try to make up for it by giving scholarships and emphasizing charity. These types of changes, however, are shallow themselves. The message now appears to be "young women should get good grades and be involved in social or political causes, and they should look good while they do it." The emphasis is still on looks. In my mind, no change could be made to the beauty pageant that would change this, as putting girls (I say girls not only because of the abbhorent presence of child beauty pageants, but because often participants in pageants are very young) on display like dogs is inherently worthless.

I trust maximum of your responses. women all of us is alluring yet no longer if this "elegance" is engineered. for my area there is not any elegance while that "elegance" comes from the knife of a physician. perhaps this way of elegance could be an exhibited in an paintings gallery exhibiting the abilities of the surgeons who're in charge for the transformation that are no longer to any extent further organic. the ask your self pageants that have been well-liked in the 50's have been some thing rather diverse than what they have morphed into as we communicate. the ask your self replaced into organic, the movements weren't staged, and the solutions to the questions posed to the contestants have been honest responses that gave some indication of the character of that particular. Now, each and every thing is staged and rehearsed and if a contestant provides a "incorrect" answer they're criticized, ostracized, and specially circumstances expelled from the competition. How can the winner of such a "pageant" somewhat come away understanding they're particularly the main alluring contestant in the competition?

i think pageants should stick to what are its main objective, mission and there visions. IF there objective is to find a person who will represent the universe, to promote peace and help the "poor" people/countries then so be it, the contest should be who among many women in the world have than the objectives should be the winner and forget the display of gowns, bathing suits, talents and question and answer.
If you ask me the late Mother Theresa should be a grand slam Ms. Universe, for what she have done and that for me was the woman who symbolizes what a woman of the universe should be.

then again im a foot fetishist .
Beauty pagent contestents for the most part are extremely talented .
If anything should be changed it would be the marketting of it to place more emphasis on how talented these women realy are .you dont have to diminish beauty to promote talent tho .

No makeup, no fake fingernails or fake hair and noone under the size of 14 allowed. That would pretty much make the women "real" and more like reality and it would be based on what's inside that counts type of thing.

perhaps if there is a point to them,an objective, except entertainment?
perhaps if ther winners made an actual difference in the world instead of just looking nice?
