I want to do a plaster outline of my belly but I am sceptical. We bought the kit for hand prints but can be used for this project. Any suggestions?

I have to say, I did this for my sister, and it sounded weird. I though it was totally strange and all, but honestly...it was absolutely neat!! We did her shoulders to the underside of her belly and around the backs of her arms. She bought a special kit...bellycasting it's called. She paid big bucks though. I thought it would be hard, but it really was easy. First off, if you are going to do an entire torso, you'll want to make sure you'r pits are shaved. Sounds funny I know, but catching the hair hurts!! LOL!!! She sat with her panties on, and a piece of plastic wrap covering them and actually wrapped inside a little bit...kept the hair and the panties from getting caught. Don't go too far around, or you'll never get it off. I could actually probably get her instructions copied for you if you'd like, and you can see how they told her to cut the stuff. It was casting material in like 30' lengths. We had to cut in certain sizes and such for easier handling. I know you can order online and maybe find at a pharmacy. Her stuff was gauze strips with the plaster already in it. You run it gently in a bowl of water and lay it on, smoothing as you go. It dries quickly, and so you have to be kinda quick. Let me know if you need some help..I'd be more than happy to get you those directions and stuff!!
Really...it is a neat thing to do, and I *think* she was going to do it for me. However, I don't think I can spend what she did for the kit. I'll have to find the stuff cheaper!! LOL!!! Would be very cool to do this several time, so you have your belly captured at different times. Her arms rested on her belly with her hands there in the casting....so cool!!

There is a better material than plaster for doing castings of body parts. It's called alginate. More expensive, but works better.
