it's called the path of least resistance, it's easier to go back than to go forward....

Familiarity, even when there's so much negativity attached to it, almost always feels more appealing than cutting ties and starting over on your own. We think we don't deserve better and will never find it no matter how hard we try.
That's wrong, and I, for one, am living proof of that. I'm glad I got away and faced the fear of starting over, it was the smartest thing I ever did. If I hadn't, all of my hopes for a satisfying life would be gone by now. It's a shame that so many people let that happen to them.

They dont necessarily make you feel better.
But they are 'familiar', a habit. You hope that somehow things will get better if you try harder.
But that takes energy and committment from both to make positive and happy changes.
You still love them familialy or deeply. Low self esteem does that too. A feeling that that's all youre worthy of. Sad but true. If you do go back...and nothing changes over a given period of time, it's time to seek a new mate.

Because a lot of times we feel like they'll change.
Problem is...the only person that can instigate change is that person themself. It has to come from within.
Often times we try to overlook the hurt and pain they've caused....and think we can do things to help them not be so hurtful.
All you can do if you can't turn and walk away is protect yourself.......and hope it doesn't happen again.

because we want what we can´t have and some how we keep thinking well have it someday. even after they hurt us we keep a bit of hope that someday they´ll come back and love us and everything well be as we wished but that almost never happens. Just try to find someone that doesn´t hurt u because someone that really loves you will never hurt u.

I believe its from the comfort zone. It's hard to break out of a situation even if it's better for us. You know him, and know what to expect from him, not that its good, just easier than starting something new.

Speak for yourself!
Having said that, its probably because you feel that way about someone that they have this ability to hurt you. After all, someone you didnt care about cant really hurt you.
