A long time ago I remember Tom Cruise wore them and he when he did he was the same height as Katie Holmes. I'm short so I want to try them out...does anyone know how they work or use them? Because if you put the heel in...won't your foot stick out of the shoe?? Thanx.

I am 5 foot nine, and my first husband was 5 foot three. He never worried about the height difference and neither did I.

BUT, if you really want to "seem" taller, heel lifts are not a bad way to go.

They are not something that you insert into a regular shoe - they are built right into the shoe. Like the platform shoes you used to see in the sixties and seventies - but the way the are done now, it is much less obvious - almost invisible.

They are not cheap - at least $400 for a pair of shoes with lifts, here in Canada. You may be better off to opt for a pair of cowboy boots (quite sexy!) or simply look for a woman who does not put an emphasis on something as unimportant as height. I will tell you, I dated a fellow I met on the internet twice and the fact that he was shorter than me did not bother me - but it bothered him so much that I called it off. He was so insecure about his stature that it was a real turn-off to me. The second fellow I met on the 'net, I married. And I never even asked his height! The fact is, if you are "tall" inside, that's what matters.

Besides, eventually people will find out - and will wonder why you needed to pretend.

As a 5 foot nine inch woman, who loves to wear 4 inch heels, I have dated several men that were equal or shorter and the most attractive ones were the ones that didn't give a hoot. Skip the lifts and find a woman who has her priorities straight!

Sincerely! Samlet
