The good folks at PEOPLE reported today that Keisha Castle-Hughes, who received a Best Actress nomination in 2002 for her work in "Whale Rider," is pregnant. Castle-Hughes is 16, her boyfriend is 19.
If you're anything like us, the whole age thing kinda creeped you out. But we did a little digging, and according to a website called AgeofConsent.com -- a site that lists the age of consent in various countries and all 50 states -- the age of consent in New Zealand, where Castle-Hughes and her boyfriend live, is 16. So it would appear that while it may be a little odd, it's all perfectly legal.
But it does raise a new question -- who goes to a website called AgeofConsent.com?

People magazine reported Friday that Castle-Hughes, 16, is expecting a child with her boyfriend of three years, Bradley Hull, 19. That means she was going out with this Bradley fellow when she was just 13. Tsk, tsk! Then again, your life probably gets accelerated a little when you get nominated for an Oscar at age 12.
Castle-Hughes, who most recently appeared as the Queen of Naboo in last year's "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith," just finished filming "Nativity" in which she stars as -- wait for it -- the Virgin Mary. She's also set to star with Toni Collette in "Hey, Hey, It's Esther Blueberger," a coming-of-age story centering on a 13-year-old girl who tries to fit in at both posh private and run-of-the-mill public schools.
