Hi, I think these stores have fashionable clothes that would be good for ages 40-50's:

Chicos, Coldwater Creek, Forth and Towne

First, please ignore that ignorant skank who assaulted you with Salvation Army suggestions. I have reported her (it?) for abuse.

Now, for the real dish! I am almost 40 (born 1967) and still like to look nice. I shop at Avon - yes, they have clothes! - and also Victoria's Secret (not just for underwear anymore.) LL Bean has great stuff, as does Banana Republic, Sears, and many other well-known outlets. Is there a reason you need to shop online? Because, despite that "person"'s nasty and uncalled for remarks, I do love to shop at the Salvation Army and the Goodwill, with my 71 year old mom and my infant son. And quite often, me and mom fight over the same outfits there!

I find that good quality trousers or skirts (your preference or course) coupled with chenille sweaters, silk blouses, and vests if they suit you (no pun intended) look good on any age. A good belt and nice shoes can make or break an outfit. Accessorize with scarves, big earrings, and chunky bracelets or chokers if they suit you. Don't be afraid of colours - both my mom and I adore the "Stained Glass" colours of red, acid yellow, emerald green and sapphire blue.

I just bet you're beautiful. Ignore the idiots and shop your heart out!

Cheers,

Sam

I'm the same age. I like tailored clothes for dressing up, and jeans and soft comfy pima cotton tees or wrinkle-resistant blouses for casual. My favorite store is Talbots. They have great sales, mid-season even. They are easy to deal with on returns too. They even have outlet stores if you are lucky enough to live near one. (i do)
