When you are researching a question and you use that information to answer it, you have to give that source the credit for using that information. It's called plagiarism if you do not.
Or you copy & paste info directly from the site, then you list the source. It is also Yahoo Answer's policy for people to list them.

I also mention myself as the source if I am sharing the information and also researching it from other sites for further inforrmation. Also, to explain or expand my answer, or when the answer is too extensive to post here.

It can be a link to a website where you may have found the answer. Some people use it to state their relevant experience.

If you have pulled any info from the net, you can put it in there. Or if you have first hand experience, you can put that down too.
