(1)
(a) 2f(-4)=2(-4)(-4+1)=2(-4)(-3)=24
(b) f(2)+[f(3)]^2=2(2+1)+[-3(-3+1)]^2=6+36=42
(2) 3^2+3a+2=20 => 11+3a=20 => 3a=9 => a=3
(3)
(a) H(0)=1 (always take last coefficient to get value at 0)
(b) H(p-2)=4(p-2)^2-8(p-2)+1 =
4(p^2-4p+4)-8p+16+1=4p^2-24p+33
(4) 2(8+m)=6(4+m) =>
16+2m=24+6m =>
-8=4m => m=-2

These are just substitution problems.
1) a) substitute -4 for x and multiply by 2
2f(-4) = 2[-4(-4+1)] = 2[12] = 24

They should be pretty easy
