Buy a pocket sized notebook and keep it in your back pocket at all times. . .along with a pen. This way, whenever you are inspired, you can just whip out your handy, dandy notebook and write down whatever comes to you.
May also help to keep a notebook by your bed.

Write or Type the words down before you forget them.It would be a lot easier on you when you hear the song again.

write on anything you can at teh time.. a paper bag, a napkin, hand, use the catchy words for the most part and skip the ones you pretty much know you'll remember. Doesn't matter really how neat and in order its in as chances are once you sit down with it anyway all together you'll sort it all out anyways.

if it's for writing songs, keep paper with you at all times and just write everything down and make it a song later.
but if its for a song.. look the lyrics up online and keep singing along to the song with the lyric page to learn them

Keep on humming or singing it until you catch it properly. or if you can write it right away do that so you don't forget a good song and then regret your opportunity of being on the radio or TV.

Well it depends, if they're annoying bad lyrics, try saying them backwards.

If it's something you want to remember, buy one of those journalist notebooks and keep a pen with it. Just write it down as it comes, and if you can't get access to your notebook, try repeating it outloud.
