You will not get cancer by staring at the screen interminably, but you will get eye strain.

When you get older, it can contribute to "dry eye" which causes itch and burn. My opthamologist tells me that when we are at the PC, without realizing it, we do not "blink." The eyes stay open as we read and stare, which allows the eyes to dry. This is where "Moisture Drops" come in. I keep a bottle on my desk.

We can get very tired. We are advised to look off into the distance periodically to allow the eyes to refocus.

What you probably can and will get are an occasional stiff neck, shoulder and backache from sitting too long. We are advised to get up at least 5 minutes every hour. This is where an "exercise band" comes in. It is a great help to stretch and relax the muscles.

The "golden years," -- don't you believe it.
