I need a "backing plate" for my 1982 Toyota Tercel (for the brakes).I looked a bit online but haven't had any luck.Maybe it goes by a different name now?Any help would be great.Thanks!

Are you talking about the dust shield behind the rotors on the front or behind the drums on the back? Is yours all rotted out that is why you are looking for one? You probably are not going to find one new because they would not make that part anymore!! Check around at the local scrapyard you might find one!!! Good luck!!!

Raise this question to the spare parts dealer. The best thing in Toyota they have spare parts which are common to most models, check it out.

It is called either a backing plate or vacuum plate, depending upon the generation you speak to.
