i have this obsession where my hands or body has to feel something evenly.. for instance, typing, if my right fingers hit the keys to much.. i have to hit some random keys with my left hand, so they will feel the same.. you know how when you type more with one hand the fingers on that hand feel differently.. and i do this with a lot of things.. is that obsessive compulsive? am i the only one that does it?

Thank god I'm not the only one... I get the same way with blinking... If I blink a lot with one eye, I have to blink a lot with the other to balance it out...

Let me ask you something... is this bothering you? Does doing these things get in the way of your life? If so then you ought to seek treatment. Yes that behavior sounds to me like obsessive compulsive disorder. Of course no one can diagnose over the internet like this. (By the way, if michelle k was a real therapist she wouldn't tell you that you definitely had OCD over the internet with such little information.)

Everyone has quirky behavior. When it gets out of control and starts interfering with your functioning then treatment options should be looked at. Treatment can dramatically reduce your symptoms and make you feel much better! I know because I have OCD and have been treated for it for about 11 years now. I suffered many years of my life not knowing what was wrong as a child and being scared I was "crazy". My life is ten times more pleasant.

But if it is just little things and you don't mind, it is how you are. This sort of thing tends to get worse then better then worse and cycle over time. So if you do need treatment, don't be shy. It can really help. Good luck!

ROFL... Since many people tell their OCD then I will tell one of mine too lol. Both of my eyes look strainght to the right then to the center then to the left and keep looking like this until I feel the balance lmao, otherwise I will feel really uncomfortable, it is like something in my body keep bothering me lol, really weird haha. For example, I look to the right 3 sec then left 2 sec then center 1 sec, then I have to look back to the left 1 more sec then look back to the center 2 more sec to balance out the time that I look on each side haha. Don't you think it is really weird, I usually do this while driving or walking or playing computer lol. Luckyly, I only do this probably two times a day lol. I keep trying to break this habit but not easy at all lol. Email me if you have this ocd same as me lol. Really interesting haha...

It's not just you ! I used to be REALLY bad about it when I was in my teens and early twenties. I pretty much grew out of it eventually though. But yes...I know exactly what you're talking about. If I walked through a door and brushed my shoulder against one side, I would have to walk back through the door and brush the other shoulder against the other side. Technically, it IS obsessive compulsive, but if it doesn't really intrude on your life in any significant way, I wouldn't worry about it. (By the way, do you ever watch Monk? If not, you should! I love to watch it because it reminds me of when I do stuff like that!)

You are definilty not the only one that does that. I do it and as I get older I realize a lot of people do. It's a slight form of OCD but definitly not as bad as it could be. People with full blown OCD usually can't even leave the house because nothing ever feels the same.

Yes it is OCD slightly. I used to give myself 5 steps between cracks in the pavement. If I only took 4 then I'd get an extra step for the next gap. If I ran out of steps, I'd start leaping to keep my saved steps up. Weird huh? I'm glad I dont do that anymore.

This is definitely not an isolated case, however I do believe it falls under the category of O.C.D. that is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I would look for a good doctor that specializes in that field, its no fun to be enslaved by our obsessions.

I probably do that too. I know that I don't like to step on lines. I do a lot of obsessive-compulsivish things. Even though I'm not OCD, I still do things like the stepping on lines thing. And I can't stand it when a chalkboard or markerboard isn't completely clean lol.

As a psychotherapist, I can definately say that you are OCD. Is there anything else you may do to balance your life out, aside from the typing ritual? Depending on whether you perform any other rituals, I would recommend going to talk with a counselor to help in controlling this behavior so that it doesn't get out of control.

i used to do strange things like that when i was a kid, now i have OCD in other ways such as my home. I cannot eat lunch or dinner unless the floor has been vaccumed because if it hasnt then the lunch will be bad and the world will feel as if was coming apart.
