I remember a time when my 2 favorite groups and singers were the Beatles ,Elvis and of course the Rolling Stones.
Listening to some of their music,I really think that they were way ahead of their time in a lot of their beats and rythym tracks..what do you think ?

i still think that enough credit is given to the Beatles with their different music techniques, and their writings by John Lennon, and Paul Mcartney,They jelled and inspired each other I think, and it is a once in a lifetime phenonemon.
(sorry no spell check when you add details)
Elvis's vocal chords and his Gospel and black music background, would have taken him to new music levels in today's music world if he were still alive.
Elvis opened the door for many muscians to let loose and don't be constrained to what the music industry thinks that the public wants. He created his own fans with his own music.,much like Jerry Lee Lewis.

To me they were not ahead of there time, they were merely pioneers of their music genre. They were musically inspired by others before and around them just as most other musicians and groups were and still are. They just happened to come at a time in our history when change was occurring in all areas of society. The war, politics, drugs, and technology opened up a whole new way of looking at life and putting it into music. Music became diversified in ways we had never heard of. There were many pioneers when you get right down to it. Experimenting with different forms, sounds, instruments, and recording techniques had interesting end results for the whole music industry.

Add The Doors to your list. U2, Springsteen, Radiohead are all really good current bands.
