I would go with an imitation curveball like a cut fastball it's not hard on the arm and its really easy to throw. Just put ur middle finger on the lace so it covers it up and then slightly lift you'r index finger above the middle finger. then just throw it like a fastball. And you're 14 and haven't learned to throw a curve? ouch. I think your "COUCH" might be a little slow! huh? And has the guy that posted above me ever played baseball bacuase he talks like its a "statistic video game" lol

As much as your "coach" wants you to succeed, a curveball may not be the best option for such a young player like you. It can be quite difficult to master. If you can, probably the best 2 pitch combo is a good fastball and a deadly change-up. Because of the level you are at right now, a change-up is easier to learn and will not give you tendonitis like a curveball can.

For example:

Trevor Hoffman throws a 85 mph or so fastball. His changeup is about 10 or so mph slower. His precision and skill with his change-up makes his fastball (not that fast compared to some pitchers) look like it's coming at you at over 100.

Determining which pitch works the best depends on how well the pitcher can effectively use the pitch. As far as which one is easier to learn, the fastball has different variations, such as the four-seamer, two-seamer, cutter, splitter, forkball and sinker. The curveball, however, has very few, if any, variations.

A 12 to 6 curveball is really hard to learn but if you can do it properly you can dominate. Otherwise try an 11 to 5.

I don't think you should be listening to your couch...just throw the one Kenny Rogers was throwing tonight.
