I'm assuming you mean the kind who don't pay child support, right? If they are truly deadbeat and just don't pay, they ought to have their parental rights terminated. However, if they are honestly poor, broke or jobless and CAN'T pay, that's a whole different story and doesn't qualify for deadbeat. You have to make damned sure which one you are dealing with before such drastic action is taken. Judging wrongly can be devastating and affect lots of people.

Deadbeat parents should go to jail. I think they get off way too easy, the losers.

They should be forgotten and the other parent should move on with his or her respective life.
Having deadbeat parents as a life-issue for your children is destructive for the children. Kids are highly sensitive to being "unwanted".

Child support laws need to be stricter and reinforced. I recently spoke to a woman who said her daughter's father hadn't paid child support in months. When they went to court the judge actually gave him four months to start paying her or he would go to jail. He wasn't even forced to pay the arrearage he owed. My other friend was told if she wanted to take her child's father to court for an increase in child support that she would have to pay the courts $100. That sounds insane to me.

Take away their drivers' licenses. Attach their salaries. And if they won't work, toss them in jail.
