Any car can be converted, it's just a matter of how many parts will need to be swapped. The bottom line on the tranny is to make sure you have (or get) a tranny crossmember that fits the 5 speed as well as a driveshaft. If the automatic one doesn't, a machine shop can probably help you out for less than anything but a salvage yard. As for the crossmember, you will probably need to get a different one, but double check before you buy anything. With any parts you are looking at getting for the swap, if you don't need it, use the money elsewhere. If you do, do it right and buy the stuff. Also, check if the computer in the car also monitors or controls the tranny at all. If it does, you may need one from a manual car, and possibly portions of the wiring harness. While you're at it, I think I remember some of the '80s Camaros coming with 305s instead of 350s. If yours is one of them, upgrading to a 350 would definitely make it more fun (or maybe even a stroker motor, which you can get from places like PAW that run up to 426 cubic inches, from a smallblock. If you have money to burn, you could also consider converting from the automatic to a 6 speed. If you are an a thin budget, you can probably get all the parts you need for the 5 speed swap from local salvage yards, and maybe the machine shop for modifying the driveshaft. Whichever route you wind up taking, make sure you get all the major AND small parts you need to make the swap, and good luck!

You can definately do that. Only problem is how much are you willing to spend. You could find everything you need, used on ebay but shipping will probably be alot. Check with a local junk yard to see if they have your car there setup w/a 5 speed and remove all the mounts, slave cylinder and pedals and other misc parts. If they also have a good trans your done shopping, if not just keep going till you get all the parts. Installation will take some time and knowledge too. Good Luck

Well for your question yes you can convert your camaro to a 5 speed!! Lot of people have done it!! But for you finding a camaro 5spd, GM only made camaros 5spds with a 5.0L motor or if you had a v6!! 5.7L only came in automatic!! But you got to keep in mind that if your car is 5.7L and it has T-tops when you put a 5-speed in it you might notice stress cracks on your A-pillar!! This is know for 3rd gen Camaros!!! Good luck with it!!!

i own a repair shop, and i don't think it can be, its not built to have the capacity to have a 5Th gear in it,,but it would be nice if it could be, id be happy to have one in my car,but you,ll have to settle for it the way it is for now,or find a newer model set up motor and trans that has a 5 speed behind it,good luck,i hope this help,s.PS you can change the car over to a stick shift if you like, but the 700r4 will always be a 4 speed transmission, but you can find a standard trans and change it all over ,good luck.

it can be done but it will be expensive unless you find a junk donor car to swap parts with. if you go to www.thirdgen.org you will find a complete guide on how to do that swap and you will find a lot of other help about your car there as well.
