What makes a jew a jew (according to Jewish law) is bloodline. If the mother is of jewish bloodline, the child is by default Jewish.
The assumption that Jewish people are 'always rich' is a falacy. It is in the same vein as mexicans are always lazy, irish are always drunk or asians are always smart. Simply not true.

A Jewish person is actually not a person, but an intelligent species of ocean-dwelling fish. They wear a people suit so that they can breath above water. They are always rich because they have perfected the art of underwater gold mining and are harvesting vast ore deposits not known to surface dwellers.
By the way, you know that saying "there's no such thing as a stupid question?" You've just proved that wrong.

A Jewish person is a person who believes in Judaism, a certain religion. And they are not always rich, although they do have the stereotype to be cheap.

I'll have you know that Jewish people are NOT always rich. I'm Jewish, and I'm not rich. One of my best friends is Jewish, and she's not rich. A good many of my classmates are Jewish, and most of them are not rich. So stop deluding yourself.

judaism is a religion, but it's also a hereditary bloodline. jesus was jewish by blood. and hitler tried to exterminate all the jewish people in WWII. probably all the rich jewish ppl are all rich b/c their grandparents went for years with nothing under hitler's rule, spent time in concentration camps, etc, and then moved to the u.s. where they could have anything they wanted, so they want to make sure to provide for their grandkids so that they have more than they did.

The name, "Jew", comes from Judah (as in the Hebrew tribe) and later Judah/Judaea (as in the land as it was known in the times of the southern kingdom and the Greeks and Romans). Judaean equals "Jew."
The money thing is simply a stereotype.

I think they were chosen by God in Biblical times. But I think they're really skilled. Also I think they get "first fruits" so-to-speak (Lord forgive me if I'm not right).
