I don't want gerbils,dwarf hamsters,guinea pigs, or ferrets.

I don't get it, you like rodents but you don't like anything in the rodent family! You say no gerbils, dwarf hamsters, guinea pigs, or ferrets... you say no birds, reptiles or fish...
You cant have squirrels and chipmunks because those should be in the wild...
Maybe a spider? A rabbit?
Why do you want a pet that lives in a cage anyway???

Without a doubt, a rabbit. They can be very friendly. Check out Holland Lops and Mini Rexes. They are both relatively small and very cute. You can even walk them on a harness in the park or your yard! I raised Holland Lops for years and they are just so cute and the babies look like floppy eared puppies. Find a breeder and check them out! Yes, I hate point snatchers too, I just report them for being point snatchers and not being serious about questions and answers.

If you are restricted to a caged animal, that really limits your options, with the exception of exotics. By this I mean, spiders, tarantulas are actually really neat and fun to scare people (jk), but there are several types, some that are easier to handle than others, some can not tolerate human touch. Another option is and yes it's pretty weird, scorpions. Have some really neat breeds too, but again, most you can not, repeat CAN NOT handle them. They are neat to watch, and several breeds are black light sensitive (they glow blue, neat to see). Other option is to look into is larger breed exotics such as hedgehogs, dwarf rabbits, rats (they actually are extremely smart creatures),chinchillas, or sugar gliders. Best of luck, hope that this helped!

A white mouse or a rat would be a good choice. They live in a cage, are fairly cheap to buy and maintain, easy to care for, and they can be very entertaining little critters.

Cats are fun, the can be playful, when you are at work they can occupy themselves, they are quiet, well behaved, and perfect! Cats are the best. Dogs are cool too, but cats are better because when your at work or something, all you have to do is leave some food and their good! Teaching them how to use the littler box is easy. They just use it themselves. Cats are the best!

Get a reptile of some sort. There are some really cool lizards that do well in a terrarium environment.

Rats actually make great pets. They're very smart and their personalities are kind of like a dog's.

You could get a sugar glider, chinchilla or a rabbit. They're all good pets.

how about a rabbit? They come in all sizes, and can be litter trained (though you have to watch they don't chew cords etc.).When your home it could be out and about with you, and when you leave, it would be safe in its cage, out of the way of the landlord!
