No I'm a nurse, and the only skin cancers I have seen are from the sun. There might be a renal problem from too much ink in the skin if you have laser surgery to try and get rid of tattoos - as the ink is washed into the lymph (drainage) system and intot he blood and is filtered out of the body by the kidneys. But no skin cancer from modern inks. The red pigment years ago used to be made of mercury - no that is toxic! But even then, I have not seen cancerous old tattoos - only horrible old faded ones!

There has been a lot of talk about cancer and tattoos. Tattoos are growing in popularity and many wonder if they are safe or can tattoos cause cancer.
There is no evidence that support tattoos causing cancer. However, dark tattoos can make it difficult to detect moles that may be cancerous like melanoma. This is especially true for people who have "sleeves" (arms covered in tattoos), or those who have many tattoos.
People with tattos need to be careful to examine their skin every month for changes, just like those who aren't tattoed. It just may be more difficult and time consuming, but definitely worth the effort.

No, but you can get something just as bad called hepatitis if the person doesn't clean his needle properley or has himself and has a small cut and inadvertantely touches the area being tatooed where he has the cut.

Not that I know of. I have 3 and I work in the medical field. So I am pretty sure I would have heard about it if it was true.

They cannot give you cancer. "N" is wrong. There can be some allergic reactions associated with tattoo ink, though cancer is not one of them.

Of course, Skin cancer that is. It is the ink being permanently placed into your skin. You seriously never thought that there would be side affect and consciences?

Yes, like anything unnatural that you put in, or on your body it can. However, probably not much more likely than makeup, or drink a coke giving you cancer.
Still, tattoos are nasty, think about what it's gonna look like when your 70 years old and all wrinkly... yuck.
