I took my husband's last name, but I dropped my middle name and replaced it with my maiden name. I feel it tells who I am better than my first, birth middle name, and husband's last name would've. I use my "new" middle name a lot more than I ever used my other one, too. And with a fairly common (married) name and a fairly uncommon (ethnic) maiden name, I'm the only one with that name.

I kept my maiden name initially for business reasons, but eventually it just became too much of a hassle so I took his last name after about 5 years (and a job change). I think it's something that the couple needs to decide and both be ok with - and probably the least important thing about being married, but that's just my opinion.

i think it depends on the couple, it's a personal choice i think others can't choose what is acceptable. For me I had no issue with that i have my husbands last name. My aunt however who was a lawyer before marriage chose to keep her same name for business reasons.
