"We'll never be homeless" is not good enough for many women.

Maybe she's worried sick about retirement, when you guys can't work anymore. She probably have higher standard as for what it means to have enough money. Also, believe it not not, your attitude might worry her more than anything else.

Help her to get a well-paying job, maybe?

Discuss it with her what would make her stop worrying, i.e. what cashflow or lump sum in the bank would make her more relaxed. Think about it together how you can achieve that. Maybe she will agree with you that you're doing OK once you talk to her rather than being dismisive about her worries.

My husband is in the military and we make ok money ..it pays the bills but we try not to be living paycheck to paycheck..if you don't have any money to spend to have fun then life just gets boring and then your relationship might start to get really bad. Just let her know that you don't care about the money...get a retirement plan and maybe buy some stocks and then after take her on a cruise and show her a good time, tell her not to worry about the money ..as long as you payed the bills and you don't owe money then you should be good.

good luck and tell her to not be so tight with the money... after all she only has one life to live.

If your wife is peri-menopausal, the hormonal changes she is going through will likely cause her to stress about something. Sounds like she has fixated on money.

The website at www.hufa.org has some info on low blood sugar - one hormonal related condition that may bring on increased anxiety.

Hope this helps.
