Try feeding in a different place. Most horses will not poop in their food, but I had a friend's Arab mare stay here. She always pooped on her own pile of hay. I have been around horses a lot and they don't generally do it, but there are individuals who do.

in the beginning, the completed no longer pooping in a putting bucket component is fallacy. My TBs like to back as much as a putting bucket and take a sell off... i'm able to't inform you the way many 5 gal buckets i've got had to scrub because of the fact of that! LOL heavily nevertheless, I stressful approximately their water being clean jointly as i'm at paintings, so I now use a protracted slender trough for water and much less manure problems. next, eating off the floor is extra organic and theoretically fit for the horse.. mine seem to like it besides, you may watch the muscle groups flex that they use to the two devour from bigger or decrease and see how lots extra suitable off floor is (spent some feedings mixing it as much as see how they did). i take advantage of rubber tubs on the floor or in the event that they are in a stall I positioned down a rubber matt decrease than the rubber tub for people who savour dumping each and every little thing out :-) Instigators. i myself do no longer see any advantages anymore to putting a bucket on the wall different than human convenience. same handle hay, much less dirt and comparable volume of waste by feeding on the floor on a mat. yet another poster stated secure practices... i could prefer to back that up, i've got had horses get halters caught interior the putting aspects of buckets, grain down their ears, scratches from banging the bucket against the wall, and hooves caught in a corner fastened feed bucket. All in all, i myself desire the rubber tub on the floor, and while you're stressful approximately area, basically get rid of it while they are finished :-)

yep sure have. I had a Tennessee Walker that would poop on and in everything he could push his hind end up to. It's a real pain to clean out because every time this was done in his feed or water bucket, I had to bleach it to get rid of the bacteria.

My brother-in-law's horse used to poop in his water bucket. Very gross. Not really sure why he did it. He probably didn't realize or maybe his stall was too small. I don't know if he does it any more.

Some do it all the time. You can try moving the feed bin if he keeps doing that. What's even grosser is when they poop in the water buckets...now that's a real mess!

yep, she did! She seemed to prefer the water bucket, maybe cuzit was at just the right height for her hind end! Its a real pain. You could try moving it to a different level. You could also try building a "shelf "or cage like contraption, that extends out into the stall, so that it harder for her/him to put their butt to the bucket! Its wierd!
