I believe only you can answer that question. I think a massive knife might be hard to yield, and it looks like you're in hospitality so that might be one of the reasons. I've cut myself a few times, with big and small knives, i don't think it is really because the knife is massive that you cut yourself, but rather because it is sharp.

It's the only way to celebrate a new knife. I whacked most of my thumbnail off once while slicing limes at work. Gotta break them in! If you don't have at least one injury from a knife, it's not a good knife!
