Ellie Arroway: So what's more likely? That an all-powerful, mysterious God created the Universe, and decided not to give any proof of his existence? Or, that He simply doesn't exist at all, and that we created Him, so that we wouldn't have to feel so small and alone?

Going back a while, in "A Star is Born," Judy Garland as Vickie Lester, a huge star, in the final scene at a benefit, not long after her husband, James Mason as Norman Maine, commited suicide when he realized he could nothing but bring her down due to his severe alcoholism, she is in the center stage at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles as the huge curtains part. The audience, knowing this was very hard on her applauds as she walks up to the microphone choking back tears. When the applause fades she moves in close to the mic and says, "This is Mrs. Noman Maine...." The music swells and the camera pulls slowly back as she acknowledges the overwhelming applause until she is but a speck on the huge stage. Quite a throat grabber given all that came before.
If someone here doesn't mention the final line uttered by Joe E. Brown in "Some Like it Hot," I will be disappointed. The film starred Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis. That line is often referred to as the single funniest ironic line ever uttered in a film comedy. (If no one mentions it, I will put it on my blog tonight)
