I don't trick-or-treat. I sit at home, eat candy, start a fire in the fireplace and watch scary movies.
I need recommendations for some good ones to watch. I don't want blood and guts (i.e. Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street), or endless sequels. I want classic horror movies and not gross out flicks.
I am tempted to rent Saw, but I will need convincing. Without giving too much away, convince me to see it.
I love the Vincent Price movies and vampire movies from the fifties and sixties.
SO...any suggestions. Remember no gross out blood and guts movies.

If you don't want a blood and guts movie, you DON'T want to rent Saw.
It sounds like your best bet is to go with a good old Stephen King movie. They're scary, but usually made for television, so without the gore.
By him, I recommend:
IT - Scary clown = scary movie. Plus with John Ritter and Seth Green? How can you say no?
The Langoliers - Most of the passengers of an airplane disappear in midair, leaving a group behind to figure out where they went and why they can't see the lights of Denver below.
The Shining (miniseries remake) - SO much better than the original. Maybe without the classic "Here's Johnny" moment, but scary and brilliant nonetheless.
Rose Red - Professor gathers psychics from around the country to an expidition to a local haunted mansion (think Winchester Mansion) thought to be a "dead cell" but as it turns out, much more alive than they would have ever dreamed.
Those are the best, anyhow.
Enjoy!

I've been a "horror" movie fan since I was a kid. Saw is good, but it's very distrubing. So is Saw II. So, it's your choice. If you haven't seen "The Grudge", watch that. I'm looking forward to "The Grudge 2", which opens next Friday, Oct. 13th. Since you like horror movies, I'm sure you've seen "The Exorcist". If not, watch that one, too. I took my ex-husband (at the time he was my b/f) to see it when it was being played at theaters again in the early 80's, and after it was over, he told me to never take him to another movie like that again. I asked why, and he said I got to go home to other people (I was 19 & still lived at home), and he had to go home alone!

If you don't want blood and guts, don't rent Saw, or Saw II, or Hostel. I've only watched Saw out of those, and it was friggen brutal...scared the crap out of me because it made me think that there were sick people out there watching it and wanting to copy the crap in them...so although it was scary, if you don't want the gore, don't rent it. I like psychological horrors flicks...one's that make you think, not just puke. I can't really think of any suggestions for you to rent right now though, only what NOT to rent.
