As a matter of fact I do believe in them, both the blood drinking variety, and the more subtle psychic variety. Truth to tell I have met both in my travels. Some parts of the legend are fact, some are not, and some things are not included that should be.
Fact: both varieties have unusually long lifespans.
Myth: they cannot change shape.
Fact: they prefer darkness
Myth: they do not burst into flame during the day
Fact: they are physically stronger than a person their build should be
Myth: they can not control peoples minds through telepathy
Fact: they have an unsusal affinity for certain types of animals
Myth: religious symbols do not harm them
Fact: garlic and other odifeous vegetables are offensive to SOME of them becasue of their enhanced sense of smell
Myth: vampires have to kill their victims or turn them.

Because most of what we know about vampire comes from folk lore and/or Hollywood. It's not as reported as real as other supernatural creatures...
like Werewolfs that appear across different cultures.
That and they were just a way for parents to get their kids to eat garlic. J/K =^p

Depends on what you mean ! If you are talking about people who believe they are Vampires, then my answer is yes. There used to be a very large group of them in Tempe, AZ, I had talked to several people there who actually believed they where Vampires ! But if you 're talking about Vampires like you see in the movies, (The living dead) then my answer is no !

I believe that there are vampires, who are people that drink blood, but not in an Anne Rice 'Lestat" kind of way! I wish that there were vampires just like the Anne Rice fictional ones, but alas, they do not exist! ;-(

NO. There are creatures in nature that suck blood, sick humans who drink blood, and killers who enjoy killing (they're sick too). But they dont have special powers, and they definitely dont live forever. That all a myth, a story, a legend.

i don't because i think that's a myth; if they were to be real, there would be many vampires living these days at night, they would be seen and people would be afraid of the dark or would not be out alone in the dark.........wouldn't you think so?

I think once upon a time they did. I mean there's Vlad the Impaler and ones like him. So why not? Doesn't seem so far fetched to me.

Unfortunately, my darned logical mind refuses to believe in vampires, but I still think the idea of them rock! Call me silly, but I think they are sexy, alluring, enchanting, and intelligent beings (if they existed). If an intelligent, considerate, and handsome vampire sweeps me off my feet and bites me, then I'll believe in them!

I'm not sure. I'd like to believe in the Anne Rice-type vampires. But probably not.
