OK! 12 OZ GLASS FILL ICE HALF WAY UP...
POUR JACK IN JUST BENEATH TOP OF ICE...
ADD COKE SLOWLY ALL AWAY UP! STIR AND THERE YOU GO...
I NEVER MEASURE BUT I HAVE A GOOD EYE...
YOU WANT TO TASTE THE JACK BUT NOT OVER WHELM THE DRINK...AND IF IT IS YOUR BAR YOU DON'T WANT TO OVER USE THE JACK...YOU LOOSE MONEY...SO YOU HAVE GOOD DRINK AND MAKE MONEY... EVERYONE IS HAPPY...

In general, I like about a shot of Jack/Rum per glass of Coke. So, about 1/6.

As with any alcoholic beverage you have to mix to your taste.
At the bar they mix a shot, which is about 1 1/2 oz. of alcohol to about 6 oz. of mixer.
Those of us who would actually like to taste our alcohol, however, prefer about 3 oz. of alcohol to about 6 oz. of mixer.
I would stick with this. You get a good taste without being over powered by the taste of alcohol.
Also, at the bar they fill the glass completely full of ice first.
I always hated this practice, because you get about three sips before the drink is gone and you pay between $3-9 per drink!!
I suggest you don't do this to your friends, or you won't be very popular any more.

Generally it's half and half, but it does depend on your taste buds. I prefer mine 2 to 1 with the jack being the 1. It's your preference.
