Make sure that the water flows towards your home rather than away from it... if your putting the feature inside, make sure the water doesn't flow towards the door. The water symbolizes wealth... so of course you want the wealth to flow towards you. Also make sure the water gathers in a pool--as opposed to filtering away into a bed of rocks--same reason... you want the wealth to gather. Make sure you keep your water feature impeccably clean... you don't want 'dirty money'.

Wouldn't work for me; the cats would drink the water and the kids would spill it. No Feng Shui to a mess!

But if you don't have those hazards, then water is beautiful near the doorway. Especially if it's moving.

water is a powerful element, especially when it is exposed, meaning not covered with a solid sheet. the problem with water is located and direction which it flows.

first location, location is based on fengshui theories that you put it on a good water star (flying star), or at least it is timely. this is based on the facing/ degree to which your main door faces. basically you put it where the water star 8 is, because we are in the period 8 now until 2023. if you put water on water star less than 8, then you are activating past luck, which is considered as expired luck - not good anymore and can have a bad effect. if you put it on a water star 9, then you are activating a future luck, which means that it will not materialize this time around. and activating the present water star does bring in the money and validate in fengshui terms your house in this period, thereby renewing its energy in the house.

next direction, direction is tricky... you need experience here, and it varies from one master to the next. basically you need the formula for water dragons, and a good compass or a fengshui luopan/ chinese compass. in theory, there are 4 good directions and 4 bad ones. so, you would like to pick one of the 4 good direction to flow inward, and 1 of 4 bad direction to flow outward, to reverse the bad, making it neutral. so, 1 good and 1 neutral is good; as before 1 good and 1 bad is neutral.

this is advanced fengshui, and i doubt that you can find any books regarding this theory/s. though there are masters teaching water placements. my master peter leung i think is teaching this course in singapore next month.

i believe, because water is so powerful, that we cannot generalize how it is placed especially in our homes.

You should ask Chinese for it...personally, I don't believe it...a pot of dead water for misquotes to breed...you may get sick if you get a bite with these creatures...unless you have some fishes in it...I had a friend who had a fish tank in the hall way and she told me was for good luck...she didn't have a good luck but later, she became a very rich woman in different State...but no life...
