I just downloaded GIMP yesterday... I can figure out a tiny portion of the program, but for the most part, I'm lost.

Is there any good tutorials out there for GIMP, that requires no previous knowlegde of the program?

By the way... I have had the commen sence to search GIMP tutorals on google, and yahoo.

Please make sure that the tutorals are up to date, otherwise, I won't pick it as best answer. Thanks.

Here is another gimp program, but it is in a photoshop style interface, which may be preferable and easier to use.

It shows you the references between its tools and photoshop tools. Go to about.com and to the graphics areas, and you will find a lot of tutorials for photoshop and paintshop pro, which you can then apply to Gimpshop as well.

RTFM

:)

Since GIMP is freeware, I don't think there are any 3rd-party how-to books on that program. You'll have to go with user forums and the lovely online documentation...

Here is a start:
http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/

Also here (older, but may still work):

And here (also older, but probably is still good):
http://gimp-savvy.com/BOOK/index.html

If you are looking for more, search google for "gimp tutorial".
