Surely it would take less energy to love one another. (This is not a physics question.)

Nora Explora: Interesting point. I figure it's worth a try. You are not sure your love will be returned by hate. You might be surprised

People are somewhat programmed. By watching television we conditon ourselves to have certain reactions. Most of the reactions that occur on television and in society are that of hate. It's almost like these are the only tools modern society has for dealing with conflict. Therefore, if one's mind is cluttered with 99 methods of hate and 1 of peace, it's most likely they will pick the method of hate. It's easy and quick, but not right.

I do not just equate love to positive force and hate to negative force. Energy / force is different from emotions.

I do think positive force is more focused for constructive purpose while negative force is un-focused and chaotic towards some form of destruction. Master artists are often so great at controlling their emotions and energy that they let their constructive but un-focused energy to fly in their best works.

In that regard, both feelings of love and hate could be transformed and channeled for constructive and destructive purposes. How these emotions manifest as energy are therefore up to the person who is experiencing those feelings.

Further more, hate is the kind of emotion that hurts the person and it is therefore damaging to the persona / mentality in a long run and should therefore be avoided if possible. While love lifts the spirit / confident, it could also be clouding one's judgment in some regard and should be monitored with care.

For some people, the negative is easier. Those who don't feel love (who have been hurt, thwarted in love & are bitter) would be more hateful.

Sure, it's easy to love those that are good to us (friends, family) but is it easy to love the guy who cuts you off on the highway? The stranger who's rude to you? The person who bumps you in the grocery store & doesn't apologize? Some people are difficult to love. The Christian thing to do is to love your enemies, pray for your persecutors, turn the other cheek. This can take a lot of energy because you have to counteract the hate (or at least mild annoyance) you feel & turn it into love.

Hating will eventually make a person physically ill. The thing about hate is that it requires that you think about the people you hate and they may not be worth it and usually don't care so, you feel bad for nothing. It is a total waste of energy.

Hate draws you in like a magnet and then provides motivation, stimulation, direction and energy some may lack. It is like a fire that seems to rekindle easily.

Love, on the other hand, is something you have to work at and seems to require more personal energy and personal sacrifice to sustain.

Love is positive, but requires more effort.

True, it takes less energy - but i believe that some people take the energy rush that comes with the emotion of hatred as empowerment --thus they feel strong and powerful and like they are in control - instead of loving, in a calm, more passive manner.... (just my viewpoint)

All negative emotions are born of fear. Rational fear is a positive force in nature. It keeps you alive. Hate is the institutionalization of fear. To rid the fear you must destroy the institution. Some institutions are integral to a society and there lies the rub.

You're right. It's not a physics question.

A force is a push or pull. Energy is the ability to do work.

Please find different words to use, then, than "force" and "energy", because they are absolutely meaningless in the context in which you are attempting to use them. They are not even defined for the context in which you are attempting to use them.

It is easier to give away hate than to give away love because you can be sure hate will be returned.
