With a CJ degree your best opportunity is to go back to school and get another degree. If youare interested in LOCAL law enforcement as a career it will suffice. If you are looking for federal i.e. FBI it is a waste of 4 years. Larger better paying forces dont want CJs they want acountants and lawyers.

What can you do with a CJ degree? Throw it away and persue a better degree. The only thing a CJ degree will do for you is to show that you had enough attention to stick to the program long enough to graduate.

Most local police departments don't care if you have a degree. It will only come into play for educational bonuses regarding your pay (like getting an additional $1,00 a year bonus for having a degree (in ANYTHING).

Most federal level law enforcment agencies are seekign people with degrees in Law and Accounting.

A CJ degree is the equivalent of a Liveral Arts degree, in the law enforcment world.

A Crim degree can get you into Parole and Probation, Corrections, Law Enforcement, Juvenile Corrections, and probably a few other things. Go to your local college's academic counseling dept., they can tell you more. The financial aid dept. can tell you what funds are available to you, usually in the form of student loans, grants and scholarships. Good luck!
