Yes, absolutely, I have it. Same with it opening Excel, and other Microsoft documents. However, sometimes the alignment is off. You can also type a document in Open Office and save it as a Microsoft Word 6.0 document so others that don't have Open Office can read it. Enjoy.

Seriously, yes. However, expect some misalignment or screw-ups. Also, when you edit and save, same thing may happen when you open with MS Word.
