Why people sometimes don't tell the truth?

They most probably lie to try to get themselves out of a mess. But remember this: "Oh what tangles webs we weave, when first we practice to deceive". Lies and dishonesty are rarely, if ever, worth it. Negativity you put out always comes back at you somehow, someway. Honesty is almost always the best policy. The only exceptions I can think of are to avoid hurting someone's feelings.

Some people feel they must lie to make themselves look good in front of others. Some just do it. Some are in a fantasy world and don't know what the truth is. Some have been lying so long that they believe their own lies and believe what they are telling is the truth. Some just lie to be lying. Some lie to cover up what is really going on. Some are just ignorant and think that their lies are protecting another from whatever they are thinking that will harm the other individual.
Are these enough reasons?

sometimes we lie to escape reality, when the truth is not what we like it to be so we invent a new truth and believe it, therefore the new truth becomes reality and we believe we r not lying anymore
Sometimes we lie because the truth hurts (like if a friend tell u how his new clothes look on him etc...)

In their assessment of the situation, lie is the most appropriate thing to tide over the situation !
But when this becomes a regular affair, the impulse-instinct-habit process of mind takes over, and they inadvertently blurt out a lie even when they later realise that it was a thoughtless thing to have done so !

Now tell me have you ever not telled the truth your answer is yes You have lied before. Everyone lies to try and get themselves out of trouble it's human nature.

It's normal at humans..look at politicians..and they are our leaders..

Some aren't necessarily bad people.
Sadly some people lie because they think that they won't be liked/loved as much.
Or they say things that they think others want to hear

They are maybe afraid of the truth or trying to look like they are better and more excitting then they normally are and think they make them selves look koo!!!!
