My mother told me about this...I thought she was crazy, but she was right (aren't Mom's always right?).

Just mix vinegar and water (1 part each). Heat in microwave for about 30 seconds. Then soak newspaper page with vinegar/water mixture. Then rub windshield with this...it removes all streaks, it's amazing.

Get one of those squeegees like they have at the gas stations and in the morning when the dew is on your windshield use the scrubber part to scrub it clean and then squeegee it. That's what I do every morning and if there are bugs on your windshield the dew will have softened them up so they are easy to clean off. You can use widex or something like that if you need a cleaner and when the bottle is empty refill it with winshield washer fluid which is only a buck or two a gallon.

After cleaning that windshield, apply some PPG Aquapel. That is the greatest product for windows ever invented and has recently been made available for consumers. It is a military item and will make your windshield repel bugs, moisture, ice, etc.

Believe it or not...........but a can of coke poured on the windshield will remove the road film and haze. I do this about every 3 months and it keeps my windshield nice and clear! And just as important it doesnt harm the paint or anything else on the car.

Try Bon Ami -- many swear by it for cleaning windshields.

It is not abrasive yet will dig the dirt out of the many almost microscopic pits that everyday driving puts in windshields.

ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS THIS.......ADD 1/2 cup clear vinegar to 1 gallon of warm water.............With an old rag have it fairly wet, not soaking and rub that windshield really good and hard...all over....
now do it again....take a dish towel and dry...............You may also want to wash the inside of your windshield ....Especially if anyone is allowed to smoke in your car......While you're at it, just go ahead and wash all the windows inside and out..........

GM says BON AMI, I use it then rinse with water. Then I clean it with window cleaner, and put on a coat of RAIN X windshield wax. This usually lasts about two months.

The trick of the trade is use Windex but wipe it off with a newspaper instead of paper towel!! Newspaper does not leave streaks!!!

Straight rubbing alcohol is good for cleaning windows as well... and I know that the professional car tinting places recommend a mix of water and alcohol for cleaning tinted windows.

But just your everyday cheap rubbing alcohol will leave your window free of any sort of residue.
