So I get that a 1st down kick is allowed, but what about the 2nd part? If it is blocked does it get turned over? My son's team just lost by 3 because after they blocked the 1st doen field goal attempt, the opposition retained position and kicked again and made it. It doesn't seem right.

yes you can kick a field goal on first down if it is blocked by the other team it is considered a fumble and the team that recovers the football has possession

yes you can kick. no it's not a turnover on a block. and it has happened.
