Just one vague memory when I was about four. The snowstorm of 1979 in the Midwest. I remember my dad shoveling our porch in the back off so the weight would not damage it and we stepped into the backyard and the snow was taller than me!

No but I have a snowbound fantasy.

I have just come from my morning errands. A trip to the Grocery store and the library. I bring my things into the house as it begins to snow. I prepare my favorite lunch. I notice that it's almost white-out conditons.

I wander to the sofa with my lunch and book from the library. I click on the news to see the weather report.

And then it happens.

A commercial for a free week of HBO and CInemax for all cable subscribers.

Whoo wee! I am snowbound with my favorite food, my favorite book, and free HBO!

I need a cold shower!

You bet! The Midwest blizzard of 67. I was about 10 and living in Chicago. The snow was so deep it looked like you woke up on a different planet. There were 10 to 20 foot snowdrifts everywhere. It was too deep to even build snowmen. Kids were jumping out of 2nd floor windows or off porches and not getting hurt....heck it was such a great memory I did a whole website about it..... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/snowof67/

I downloaded as many pictures as I could find....

Blizzard of 1977 - 78 in Northeast OHIO. Even the snow plows got stuck. They had to bring in the National Guards huge front end loaders and load snow off the highways onto semi dump trucks to haul it away. Ice puddles lasted till the fourth of July in Chardon, Ohio.
