I make a service appointment but the service always is mysteriously restored before the appointment time and I cancel it out.. I suspect that they are always lying to me.

I don't think they are 'lying' to you, per se. However, it may be a problem with your lines or modem which they can't detect from the customer service center.

I'd suggest next time you don't cancel the appointment. Let a tech come out, even if it's working again, and run basic diagnostics to see if he can find a problem.

Also, you can often get to diagnostics information in your modem by going to this address:
http://192.168.100.1

that will bring up a 'hidden' page in your modem, where you can find signal strength readings and other information useful for troubleshooting your issue.

what you can do is check to see if you have a virus first, thats always standard protocol. Than you want to check your connection.
Are you using a router? If you are then you might want to see if your router is working correctly? Then it could be your ethernet card? If its non of that then you might want to see if you have a stable connection. I will tell you how to do that.
If you are using windows and you see the little computer icon at the bottom right hand corner double click on it and a small screen should pop up, click on the tab at the top that says then

you will see a screen like this. if any of the fields are blank then your connection is lost. WINNS at the bottom doesnt matter.

Physical Address:
IP Address:
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway:
DNS Server:
WINS Server:

If those fields are blank then press the repair button, and your computer will try to re-establish the connection again.
Goodluck

As they work in the neighborhood to add new customers or address cable problems, the Internet service does get interrupted. It's their fault. We used to get frequent drops in our apartment building for a couple of months (sometimes lasting for hours), until someone complained loudly enough. It's been stable for about a year now... Still drops about once a month, but not for very long.

Time Warner Cable took over ComCast and Adelfea. Call a time Warner office and tell them. They want to keep all the business they just bought, so that can't say they wont come out and fix it. Tell them you want road runner Internet service.

I have Comcast, too. THEY SUCK.That also happens to me. My modem will screw up and when i call, it gets fixed and I wand up calling them to cancel. I would get Verizon DSL or, if you can, Fios when it comes out. My internet is usually pretty good, but if I'm trying to play Halo or Battlefield it will lock up. I cant wait till fios comes out. That will be the better bet.

Of course they're lying to you. Would anybody expect a large corporation to admit that they aren't providing the service they contracted to? Forget to pay your bill and see how fast they cut you off.

My grandmother once had this problem. It was because water underneath the house was interferring with the cable signal. Have a technician come out there, maybe? :-\

Tell me about it. I too have problems with my comcast internet. They suck. It usually takes them three days to fix the problem.

Your ComnCast is hooked to your computer?

Anyway, I'd get a friend to intervene for me. Are you a woman? Maybe a guy should call next time ....or vice/versa.
