Are trench coats fashionable these days?

I found an old grey trenchcoat that belonged to my dad (who passed away when I was 12) and I really liked how I looked in it. It made me look really sharp, and I kinda wish I could wear it everywhere.

And I would too.. but, arn't trenchcoats associated with gangs and school shootings these days? Or has that changed recently? Do people still wear trenchcoats (other than goths or matrix fans)?

Could I get into trouble for wearing one outside (or to college)? Is it still fashionable or would I look silly wearing one in a public place?

Trench coats are like black, it's always in style and it's classic. It all depends on how you wear it, what you wear it with, how it fits you, and what kind of trench coat it is. If you wear some super long shiny pleather cheap one you'll look like a Matrix nerd, ya, haha. If it's too big, then ya you'll look like a terrorist or something. Too small, you'll look like some bum that found it. But well as for fashionable, I think they are. Designers are always making trench coats, year after year. Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Dior, Versace, Giorgio Armani, Burberry, they all make plenty of nice trench coats all the time.

P.S. If you want something that's really in style though, get a peacoat. They look way cooler and are shown a lot in GQ, Men's Vogue, etc. right now.

Oh, no. I haven't heard of trench's being associated with gangs in a long time. You most definately would not look silly wearing one in a public place. I watch What Not To Wear, and they always say go for a great trench coat. If the coat makes you look sharp, and you look good in it, then wear it. But since it's grey I would reccomend pairing it with a brighter colored shirt if you're wearing it with darker pants (jeans, slacks, etc). Maybe since it's old, try mixing it with a matching belt? That is, if it doesn't have a belt already.

A good, nicely tailored, trench is always in!!
As long as you wear it properly, with nicer clothes, and if the trench is buttoned and tied, you will look fine!
Don't wear it around with a pair of ugly jeans or something.
A scarf would look nicely too..tucked under your chin peeking out of the coat..save it for chilly fall days though!
You will look like a thug if you wear it it warm weather..

A trench coat isn't just for goths or matrix fans...They look professional and clean cut when worn properly!

You can wear it with nice style and fashion. I liked the scarf suggestion, makes u look classy or sophisticated.

As a matter of fact, they are (this year) very popular. But they are a timeless look that is always in vogue anyway, whether it is up front in magazines or not. They always look sharp.
