We? The federal gov pays the salaries of the military, but not [directly or necessarily] the salaries of the nurses nor teachers. It's like asking why not skip a pizza tonight so that a soldier can eat better tonight; there's no connection.

Now I would say, why not abandon all of these peace-keeping missions [between 2 or more lunes] to focus on protection of the US?
