The high crime is more on the northeast side of the city and in South Minneapolis. The culture is downtown and in the Uptown and Dinkytown areas of the city. I love Minneapolis but I only visit often I live north of the metro by just over an hour. I experience the extreme weather in the winter. We seem to get more cold than snow in the last few years. And the last couple years, the cold snaps haven't been as severe as usual. Now watch, we will get tagged with both snow and cold this winter. All in all, it is a very beautiful city.

Only the best city in the world! (But I could be biased-I live in Minneapolis.) Some of the stereotypes are true. We are known for being well-educated and having lots of cultural institutions. But the crime isn't as bad as New York, Washington, New Orleans, etc, and it's north Minneapolis where most of the violent crime occurs, downtown is pretty safe. As far as extreme weather, just don't visit in the winter unless you like the cold.

I LOVE MINNEAPOLIS! I have honestly never loved a city as much.
Theres not really much hype to go with it but coming from a state as dirty as Wisconsin big cities, Minneapolis was gorgeous. I was so shocked at how clean downtown Minneapolis it was just really starnge haha. When we where there we got a little lost, the streets where kind of confusing and at our hotel we asked how to get to MOA and they told us about 10min, it ended up taking us 30.
Everyone there was so helpful and kind. We only came across one sort of rude woman at the chilis. We where there for a concert so we where only there for a night, but I would totally go back. I have a really good friend who lives in Andover so I probably will be back soon.
I dont know what it was exactly but I just really felt a good vibe from the moment I arrived.
Minneapolis is the one midewestern city I could totally see myself living and would consider moving to.

Have been there in Summer (August). The weather was sunny and nice, but I was told I'm lucky that it's not heavy rain. Looked like a somewhat boring place. I know I'm spoiled by San Francisco and Los Angeles.

My sister lives and works there and the stereotypes seem to be fairly accurate. But also add in beautiful and full of lakes and outsdoor recreation opportunities, good salaries and reasonable cost of living.
