Um, the assumption is that the Kraken ate and killed him. That is why the rest of the gang went to the creepy voodoo lady; they are willing to "go the edge of the world" to find him (and I'm assuming bring him back to life).

they set up the ending so you dont know what happens- because they are making a 3rd one- so you arent supposed to really know

i think he might have gotten swallowed but didnt die and that why his friends are going to save him and there is a third movie
