Girlfights becoming common in schools?

Question

When I am on the bus, sometimes I hear girls, usually high school girls talking about fighting with other girls. I actually hear this quite commonly, so what is it all about, is this kinda thing becoming a problem at many schools. Why are girls treating each other like this?

the thing is girls used to be raised to be more reserved, more passive, obviously times have changed but that doesn't necessarily but the way these girls talk, its like a common affair with many diff. girls. Why, it can't always be a guy can it and if it is why do we let guys make us act this way?

I'm sure there have always been cases of girls fighting with each other, but this is like every other day on the bus I hear some girls talking about who they fought and who they'll fight next

With sexual equality also comes the illusion that woman too should fight every person that gets in our way. It does happen often, and is indeed a growing problem. Mostly, it's just the product of that generation. It does seem to be less evident in tomboys, tho.

I don't think this is new. I was the target of girls like that in high school. It's just low self esteem. It makes some girls feel better about themselves when they can "put someone else in her place" so to speak. They are really hurting inside themselves or they wouldn't be like this. It's that tough exterior - very pathetic interior thing. It may be becoming more violent - that wouldn't suprise me. But it's probably alot more talk than reality when they are talking on the bus. It's like the boys talking about their conquests with girls and how far they got. Unfortunately, I do think that it's getting more and more serious because people are acting out on these feelings these days alot more than they did in the past. I think it's because young people do not perceive that there is any control or that the consequences will come down on them. Alot of parents are absent or have serious issues. Many young people today are trying to raise themselves and have no idea about consequences and priveledges or any of the other reasons why not to be nasty to others or act out on hateful irrational thoughts like those who end up going on a shooting rampage.

Inner city schools have always had a problem with that.
My husband is 57 years old, and he remembers seeing girls fighting in the hallway. He always thought it was funny. I can't imagine anything less feminine than having a physical fight with another girl. Jeeeezzz. It's sick. Usually they are fighting over some stupid boy who isn't even good enough for either one of them.

At my school most girls just talk crap and never do anything. Although I must admit I have seen a few girls fighting. Usually over some stupid guy.

at my school it is mainly fights over boys or who is better but i do not think that their has ever been i fist fight yet. some of the stuff girls get into fights is so stupid. there is at least 10 a day from what i see but the school i got to is huge for it to be in the mountains

we use to fight all the time cant say i fought at school but yeah we fought- ive probally been in 9 or 10 fights with females- and prob 3 or 4 with boys- im 26 now its been 2yrs since my last fight

confident, the media has placed the belief into little females brains that the greater you have and tutor the better. I for one am no longer falling for this. this is starting to be rather a controversy. females in my center college could come to the principals workplace and placed on a jacket because of the fact of cleavage bearing tops. Why in the international could you place in this to college? this is a studying ecosystem, no longer a place to work out how plenty cleavage you may tutor off.

becoming a problem? gurl are you crazy? girlfights have existed since the beginning of earth. The fights are usually ova a boy of jealousy. i guess its because of the teenage girl hormones.

i'm a senior in High School and it's very common more then boys. It's kinda sad and unlady like but it happens a lot. Or it might just be my school it's pretty bad. (on the news a lot).

Women's sports have accelerated the trend to compete physically more often than was the case before those sports were promoted equally (more or less) with men's sports.
