Hello everyone! I was on birth control for years but i have been off for a while now and have been trying to get pregnant since i came off the pills. (been off them for maybe 3 months or so) well anyways i was supposed to start my period during the last week of Sep. but it never came and i still havent started. I've taken a couple tests but they have come up negative. My breasts have been a lil sore but im not sure if it is just me wanting it or not, and i havent been sick or anything yet. How long should i wait before i take another test and how long will it take for the positve to even show up on the test?

Sometimes we have the same systems for our period as pregnant.. sore breast, sick feeling.....but a home test is different for different people. Try one it cant hurt... you could be wanting it so bad that like you say you just think you are.....it's all so confusing......worrying can make your period late also.....you may start tonight....it's hard being a women our bodies can go way off if we are stressed, excited, anticipating some thing.......go take a test for pease of mind if you havent started by monday.........I'm older worry isn't good for ya.....for none of us women

Most over-the-counter pregnancy tests can detect the hormone 1-5 days BEFORE your missed period. That said, I did not get a positive pregnancy test for either son until I was almost three months pregnant and I still got my period for the first few months with both of them. Take good care of your body, just in case, and give it a week or so. If you can't stand it or are feeling any other symptoms, call your doctor.
Many people cannot get pregnant for up to two years after stopping birth control, keep at it (oh bummer eh?) and best of luck.

not to be negative but those darn things arent as accurate as they say beware i dont know how serious you are but i was frequently checking my cervical mucuos and noticed pretty quickly that my cervix was lower and softer before i even got a pos on a hpt but honestly i would wait a week or so if you can stand to they say highly concentrated urine is best first thing in the morning so try not to drink a lot b4 bed and try first thing i am sure you allready know that sometimes it takes quite a while for the result to show up pos good luck and baby dust to you sometimes the pill takes a while to completely remove itself from ur system and you ,ay have some irregular pds for a while i did for ten mths!!!
