I think that society has just showed us that thats real... you look at the tv shows that show people that live in a mobile home and thats how they are portrayed... I think that it has just gotten easy for people to say "trailer trash" when they need to put someone down... I dont think that it really should be said... But im guilty of it too... I live in a mobile home ... and honestly its a smart decision for people to own if they cant afford a house right away... Its a good start to having something bigger...

You asked a good question, because I used to live in a mobile home when I was separated from my wife, and I am not trash.
My daughter has been living in the same mobile home for 8 years, and she has it looking great inside and outside.
My grandson has mentioned this to me, that he wants to move into a house because his friends tease him about living in a mobile home.
I told him that the mobile home is paid for, his mom has it fixed up or him and her, and he is better off than some people with regular houses because he has a roof over his head, they have plenty to eat and he can bring his friends into his home without being embarrassed the way it looks.
Yes, there are some trashy people in mobile home parks, but there are some trashy people that live in regular homes as well.
Do not let anyone put you down because you live in a mobile home.

How odd is this, I was just thinking of this on my way to work this morning! On the radio a woman was complaining about some really bad storms we've had, and she had no place to go if there was a tornado. When I was listening, I did think of her being trailor trash! How bad is that?! Yikes...
Q: What do a tornado and a redneck divorce have in common?
A: In the end, someone's gonna lose a trailer.
I think the reason I think that is because if you can afford a house which is A LOT safer and doesn't depreciate like a trailor does, why wouldn't you? I guess I think poor people can't afford a house, but they can afford a trailor.

Well some "mobile" (manufactured) properties are converted into Real Property and are on full perimeter foundations. This means you can't move the property, and you more than likely have equity on said property.
FHA (Federal Housing Authority) will only lend on this type of property, anything else doesn't qualify.
So to answer your question: Because people are ignorant; and that makes them trashy, not where they live.

because they are judgemental and think everyone needs to be like them !!
an interesting point-famous actors and actresses live in mobile homes for weeks and months at a time while filming .
also keanu reeves lived in a mobile home for years ,even when he was making millions per film-because he wanted to!!!
nobody should call anybody trash without examining themselves and there own lives first!!

I dont know why they think that,but as you know,as well as i know because i also live in a trailer,they dont want to get 2 know us because they might like what they see...oh yea by the way its my choice 2 live in a trailer...im an RN ( registered nurse ) and my husband is a certified mechanic..so it cant be the money,,,people are pretty lam in the brain sometimes dont you think...

Take a good look at most mobil home parks and you will get your answer. Most of them look like trash piles.

I don't think that at all. Sometimes a mobile home can cost as much as a small house.

they most likely are low income, not necesealy trash, the ones that call you trash most likely are trash themselves
