I have two really bad ingrown toenails, one on each big toe. I have had them before but since I got pregnant and had my baby (on August 1st) they have gotten worse. I have tried the vertical cut and pull but they're still miserably sore... also I have gone up a shoe size! I didn't think that could happen at the age of 38. Anyway, they really hurt and if anyone has any solution other than cutting off my toes, I would love to hear from you. I don't have med insurance and can't afford a pedicure so I need a home remedy. Thanks...

I work at a foot doctor's office. You can soak you're feet in warm water. You don't really need epsom salts, you can use dish soap. Use peroxide to try to flush out the infection, neosporin. But if the nail is embedded in the toe, all that will do nothing, meanwhile the nail is still growing into you're toe. You really need to get it clipped out. Our office takes payments. Maybe you could go to a walk in clinic or something. Or pay something up front and make payments. You really should go to a doctor, not get a pedicure. They aren't medical technitians. They just make pretty feet.

owww. that stinks.

i also had ingrown toenails on both big toes and ended up having them removed(my nails not my toes). before that, i tried to "fix" the problem myself and it made it worse.

a few years later, they grew back and they had to be removed a second time

you could try soaking them in warm salt water, and use the neosporin with the pain relief. it helped a bit before i could go to the doctor.
even though both toenails have been removed, my feet feel so much better... no one can even tell.

hope that helped and hope your toes feel better
good luck
