she is known as the "snow queen of croatia"skier, she is and has won about 4 gold medals in the olympics, she was born in 1982, they say she is posibly the best female skier of all time

Janica KosteliÄ [Ëjanitsa ËkÉstÉlitÉ] (born January 5, 1982) is a female skier from Croatia, the best female skier in the world currently and one of the greatest female skiers of all times that keeps rewriting all the record books. She is the only woman to win four gold medals in alpine skiing at the Winter Olympic Games (in 2002 and 2006), and the only woman to win three alpine Olympic gold medals in one year (2002). She was World Cup champion in 2001, 2003 and 2006. On January 15, 2006 KosteliÄ became only the third woman in World Cup history (after Swede Pernilla Wiberg and Austrian Petra Kronberger) to win World Cup races in all of the sport's five disciplines. On February 5, 2006 Janica became the second female skier (after Petra Kronberger) to win all five disciplines in one season. She also collected record number of points in one season, 1970, 10 more than Swede Pernilla Wiberg. In season 2005/06, Janica won World Cup for the third time, but also was in Top 5 in all 4 disciplines, including number 1 in slalom.
Janica was awarded Laureus World Sportswoman of 2006.
She was born in Zagreb to a winter sport family: her father Ante KosteliÄ is also her trainer and her older brother Ivica KosteliÄ is a renowned skier in his own right.

Janica Kostelic was born on January 5, 1982 in Zagreb, Croatia. She is famous for skiing. She lives with her father/coach, Ante, her mother Marica, and her brother, Ivica in Zagreb, Croatia.
Even though she was the strongest competitor in alpine skiing, she had to go through 3 knee surgeries! Janica is exceptionally good and has won many medals. It is not a surprise that she is so good, because she started skiing at the age of 3! By the time she was 16 she had made her country's team for the 1998 Nagano Olympics. She raced in every event and her best finish was 8th in the combined.
At the age of 13, Janica Kostelic got an official Olympic scholarship offered by the International Olympic Committee. The scholarship is to help your athletes who are very good but need money to help support them when that are training. Later she joined the Croatian national team. You may think a star like Janica would need a 5 star coach, but her father turned out to be just perfect. After her first Olympics, she won a silver and bronze medal at the French World Championship.
Even though she was born and raised in Croatia she is just like every other American teenager. She likes to shop, her favorite movie is Die Hard and her favorite movie star is Bruce Willis!

She is one of the best woman skiers in the world, if not the best one. Comes from Croatia, Europe. She won the 2005/06 season WC!
